SalesForce Cleanup

Hey there, let’s talk about everyone’s favorite tool: Salesforce! Just kidding, it’s actually the bane of my existence. I have to use it every day because my company uses it for their ticketing system, and let me tell you, it’s not always rainbows and unicorns.

My biggest frustration with Salesforce is how some of my coworkers use it, or should I say, don’t use it properly. There’s this one person in particular who just drives me up the wall. And the worst part is, it’s not even Salesforce’s fault. They provide a solution for the problem in the form of a refid, but people either don’t know about it or just don’t care enough to use it.

So, what’s the problem? Well, let me set the scene. When we, as a provider, need to open a case with another one of our vendors to investigate an issue, we should just go through the vendor’s ticketing system and include the refid for the case we have on our side. This way, Salesforce will merge any replies into the case and everything will be hunky-dory. But…and here’s the kicker…people don’t include their refid. Nope, they just provide the vendor with their ticket number, which results in our support queue looking like a hot mess.

Can you imagine the chaos this creates? It’s like trying to herd cats, or worse, trying to put together a puzzle with missing pieces. It’s frustrating, time-consuming, and just downright annoying.

So, what do we do? Do we continue to put up with this chaos and let our sanity slowly slip away? Not on my watch! I’ve decided to take matters into my own hands and build a script to automatically assign vendor cases to the tech who owns the original case. That’s right, my friends, we’re going to automate the heck out of this and make our lives easier.

No more back-and-forth emails trying to find the proper case, no more wasted time merging updates, and no more headaches! We’ll finally be able to focus on what really matters: solving our client’s issues and enjoying a well-deserved cup of coffee.

So, buckle up, my fellow techies, because we’re about to revolutionize the way we work with Salesforce. Let’s make our lives easier and kick some ticketing system butt!
